Miss Jones in New York.....

Apologies for the delay in this but I got back from New York more hungover than jet-lagged and it’s taken me until now to wade through the treacle which was my work week last week to get on top of things.

Oh my, what a weekend away, we really did start as we intended to go on with breakfast at the divine Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, so much more refined than my regular Starbucks stop off and now I’ve had a taster I really don’t want to go back! Nothing more fabulous than to set yourself up with eggs benedict and fresh fruit salad, a visit to the spa before boarding a flight *sighs *. We hit 100 degree humidity as soon as we stepped from the ‘plane but thank goodness the good ol’ US of A is the home of A/C and we embraced it with open arms.

After rushing from the comfort of Carmel Limo’s into the more than luxurious instantly inviting Greenwich Hotel (www.thegreenwichhotel.com). Our room wasn’t quite ready so we had to sink into the softest leather sofas in a heavenly dark wood paneled private ‘for guests only’ bar area to get our body temperatures back to normal with the chill of the air conditioning and ice cold water to rehydrate us from the flight.

Oh my, once we got into our room it was well worth all the anticipation, the Greenwich Hotel website is a feast for sore eyes but once you experience it in all its glory it really is an interiors triumph. 88 rooms, all completely different; Wood flooring, beautiful Moroccan tiled bathroom (with A-MAZING shower heads I wanted to bring home), an ENORMOUS bed with sumptuous bed linen, dark wood furniture and more incredible there was no noise from the city beyond and glory be; a GOODY basket that was replenished every day! Including all our favourites; chocolate chip cookies, cashew nuts, rolos, pretzels, twizzlers and much, much more, as they also include all soft drinks with the room rate you kind of wonder why you need to leave your room at all. However, we managed to test the cocktails later in the bar, and yep, it all worked for us!

It was a whirlwind 4-night trip but we managed to pack in a trip to PRISCILLA at the theatre plus the hugely award-winning THE BOOK OF MORMON (I can’t tell you how satisfying it was to watch The Tony’s on the TV that weekend and see Book of Mormon win nearly everything!). We sipped cocktails at MACAU, we saw the Alexander McQueen Exhibition SAVAGE BEAUTY at The Met, had an amazing tour of some of the suites at Trump International (seriously you could fit my flat inside a 1 bed suite in there), strolled through SoHo and Greenwich Village (in the searing humidity) and spent Saturday night dancing our socks off at The Ritz in Hell’s Kitchen.

Sadly, the time came to pack up our dancing shoes (and twizzlers for the flight) and before we knew it we were London bound dragging our heavy heads (and hearts). But not before discussing when our next trip will be….

Have a great week,

Love

Miss Jones x
